President’s Message

When my husband Jay and I with our children moved to Avon Lake over 15 years ago from the Youngstown area, we needed to find a new synagogue. From day one, everyone was so warm and inviting. They made us feel like family.  What we found was a very friendly and caring congregation. One of the first things we did was to volunteer at the annual bagel brunch. What a great way to meet the members of our new congregation. It was so much fun! Within a couple years, I was asked to become a Board member. A couple years later, I became the treasurer. I volunteered in that position for 12 years. It was a lot more work and time consuming, but everyone appreciated my work and it was very gratifying. My husband also joined the board and later served as President for 5 years.

This year I was asked to become President of the congregation. After all of those years handling the temple books, I was ready for a new challenge. I felt honored and motivated to take on this new responsibility. I looked forward to working with our wonderful Rabbi Lauren. Her enthusiasm, dedication and intellect go beyond the mundane, making sure that each service is unique. If this sounds like the kind of temple experience that you have always wanted and could never find, come join us and see for yourself. We would love for you to join OUR family!
